Our Mission

The Granite Post exists to hold power to account, amplify Zimbabwean voices and deliver accurate, fair reporting on the issues that matter most to citizens of Zimbabwe and the diaspora.

We are editorially independent. Our journalism is funded by readers, not by political parties, governments or special interests. We believe a free press is inseparable from a free society, and that Zimbabweans deserve the same quality of independent digital journalism available in any major democracy.

What We Cover

We cover politics, business, technology, sport, opinion and Africa-wide affairs. Our reporters are based in Harare and Bulawayo, with regular coverage from Johannesburg and a network of regional correspondents across the continent.

Every story is verified by at least one editor before publication. We follow the sourcing and corrections standards set out in our Editorial Standards, which are publicly available and updated regularly.

Editorial Independence

The Granite Post operates under a strict separation between its commercial activities and its editorial operations. Advertisers and subscribers have no influence over news coverage. Story selection, angle and publication timing are decided solely by editors.

No external party may request or receive advance sight of a story before publication, except in limited circumstances where legal review is required. Sponsored or branded content is always clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial content.

Ownership & Funding

The Granite Post is a privately owned digital media company registered in Zimbabwe. Revenue comes from digital advertising, reader subscriptions and occasional grant funding from press-freedom organisations. We do not accept funding from political parties or state entities.

Corrections & Accountability

When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections are appended to the original article and logged in our daily newsletter. To request a correction, email corrections@thegranite.co.zw. Unresolved complaints may be escalated to the Press Council of Zimbabwe.
