Rutendo Chiweshe is The Granite Post's Senior Business and Economics Reporter, covering Zimbabwe's financial system, natural resources sector, and the policy decisions that shape the country's economic trajectory.

Background

Rutendo spent four years as a financial markets correspondent with Bloomberg's Africa bureau before joining The Granite Post. During that time he reported on sub-Saharan sovereign debt, currency volatility, and commodity export cycles from a base in Johannesburg. Since returning to Harare he has broken stories on the Reserve Bank's gold-backed ZiG currency rollout, the state of Zimbabwe's tobacco auction floors, and the restructuring of Hwange coal mining concessions.

Education

Rutendo holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) from the University of Zimbabwe and a postgraduate diploma in Financial Journalism from the London School of Economics Summer School. He is a member of the Association of Business Journalists in Southern Africa.
