New ZiG Banknotes Launch on 7 April: What Zimbabweans Need to Know
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe will release redesigned ZiG banknotes starting 7 April 2026, two years to the day after the currency's original launch. The new notes feature animal designs and higher denominations up to ZiG200. They arrive as inflation hits 3.85 percent, its lowest since 1997, but with most informal transactions still settled in US dollars and fuel prices pushing costs higher across the economy.
