Victoria Falls Panthers delivered a commanding performance at Chamabondo Primary School over the weekend, defeating Victoria Falls Suns 80–54 in a Matabeleland North Basketball League clash.

The Panthers showed their intent from the opening whistle, controlling the game and outscoring the Suns in every quarter.

The Suns struggled early and were limited to just six points in the first quarter, allowing Panthers to establish an early advantage.

By halftime, Panthers had stretched their lead to 36–22, maintaining a 14-point cushion heading into the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Panthers continued to dominate on both ends of the court, eventually sealing a convincing 26-point victory.

The result keeps Victoria Falls Panthers at the top of the Matabeleland North Basketball League standings with 13 points from seven matches.

Victoria Falls Suns remain close behind with the same points tally, while Hwange occupy third place with 11 points. Royals Eagles Academy complete the top four with eight points.

Matabeleland North Basketball chairman Brighton Musaidzi praised the development and competitiveness of the league.

“So far so good, but we are still looking for support as some teams are struggling to meet the demands that come with fulfilling fixtures,” he said.

“All being said, the league is competitive and teams are giving it their all. We’re proud of the progress so far.”
