Teen suspects were arrested after guards were stabbed and tied up during a violent quarry mine robbery in Maramba.

Guards were stabbed and tied up as suspected robbers raided a quarry mine in Svisviro Village, Maramba, stealing diesel, cash and equipment before fleeing in a getaway vehicle.
Police said two 17-year-old suspects were arrested on April 9, 2026, in connection with the attack. Two alleged accomplices are still being hunted.
According to investigators, the group disarmed a security guard who was on duty and took his shotgun before assaulting and stabbing him on the head with a knife. A second complainant who woke up and tried to help was also stabbed once on the head.
The attackers then tied both victims with an electric cable and ransacked the mine.
Police said the suspects stole two iPhone 12 Pro Max mobile phones, an Apple laptop, a jackhammer, 10 black fan belts, an electric grinder, electrical cables and US$290 in cash. They also allegedly took about 1,095 litres of diesel before escaping in a plateless Nissan Hard Body pickup.
Police in Mutawatawa tracked down the two teenage suspects on the same day as the robbery. Investigators have since recovered the stolen diesel, electrical cables, grinder, fan belts, jackhammer and the getaway vehicle.
Two suspects are in custody, but the case is not closed. Police are still searching for the remaining two alleged attackers and the stolen shotgun has not been listed among the recovered property.
The arrests were fast, but until the missing suspects and the stolen shotgun are accounted for, police are still dealing with a robbery crew that was only partly dismantled.
